II. Security dev talks
We all know that if millions of new computers suddenly pop on to the net, there's going to be millions of new targets. The OLPC project is aware of this, and have long talked about their very robust security. Just what is their security, though?
I. No Commercial Plans
Earlier this week Slippery Brick reported on the XO laptop and the One Laptop per Child (OLPC) organization, stating reports that the company planned on making the XO laptop commercially available for as little as $100 USD. According to Nicholas Negroponte, founder of the OLPC, making the XO laptops available to the public is not in the plans for this year, but may be in the future.
I. No consumer versions planned
Nevertheless, OLPC told Ars Technica in a statement that the company has no plans for a consumer version of the laptop. "Contrary to recent reports, One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) is not planning a consumer version of its current XO laptop, designed for the poorest and most remote children in the world
